the face behind the lens

HI, I'M BRITT JEZAK.

*trigger warning, cancer*

I'm so glad you're here! Thank you for taking the time to meet the face behind the lens. I'm a Washington state and destination Photographer, who specializes in making you look GOOD.  I can't believe I get to do this job full time for a living. It has healed me and brought eternal optimism to my life unlike anything else!

How Did I Get Here?

I was working my corporate job Mon - Fri and then spent my weekends working as a photographer for six years (and running myself ragged). Then, all of the hustle and bustle stopped in 2022. Three months after my daughter was born, my Dad was diagnosed with Cancer. My Husband, Joseph, and I struggled to navigate how to become parents ourselves while processing the pain and fear of one day of losing our own folks. We felt helpless as our parents suffered. Joseph's Mom had just started battling Cancer (as she was diagnosed the month before my Dad was).

Determined to have freedom over time that felt so fleeting, and desperate to make my Dad proud, I decided to leave my career at Amazon. I wanted to be just like him (after all he started his company in his twenties!) - so it was time to see if I could start a business of my own!

Wow was I terrified. My corporate job had GREAT benefits, consistent pay, the ability to move jobs and accrue stock. Plus I'd worked SO hard to get here. Could I really leave all that to do what I loved? Would I make it on my own? For months I couldn't justify it. And so, the longing grew louder.

But, when I looked into my newborn's eyes, I knew I would never give her the advice to play it safe. My daughter held me accountable to living the life I want for her - which meant I had to go first. If I wanted her to one day grow up and follow her dreams, that meant I had to follow mine and lead by example. And so, with my Dad's sickness on one end showing me there's no time to waste, and my Daughter's accountability on the other - I chose to do it scared, and jump before I was ready.

And WOW was it the best decision I've ever made!

Once I left Amazon Corporate in Dec of 2022, I was FLOORED by how much YOU, my magnificent community, seemed to be rooting for me. Many of you helped me to intentionally utilize my business as a force for good! To my surprise, some of these random acts of kindness ended up on the news. And the radio! Shortly after, I was interviewed on Jai Long's podcast, "Make Your Break." I couldn't believe it - and am still blown away by all of your support!

At the time, no one knew what my family was going through. I didn't mean to be secretive, I just didn't know how to talk about it while living through the ache, and fear of loss. Yet still - you showed up?! Why? I wondered. You unknowingly, provided for me and consistently overbooked me in my hardest season. Thank you, I'll never forget it. It meant the world to me then, and it means the world to me now.

What Happened Next?

In March of 2024, my passion project, The Greatness Series: Celebrating Black Fathers was asked to be published in a local Magazine. JapiCulture Magazine even selected my Greatness Series work to be their magazine cover photo! Can you believe it?! I invited my Husband, Mom and Dad, to celebrate at the Magazine's release party this spring- and let me tell you, I did indeed reach the personal goal I'd set in 2022. My Dad was SO proud! They all were. :)

Shortly after, I was blessed with an overflow of opportunities! My Palladian Hotel work was featured in the WA Wedding Day Magazine, as was my Ballerina Bride work! I was hired to be the Photographer for the PNW Women's Network LIVE event and spent my day working with and amongst incredible entrepreneurs. Many of whom, hired me after the conference to work as their personal Branding Photographer, trusting me to help elevate their business, and allowing me to fine tune my branding photography skills.

I now understand that my business is my greatest ally to building the life of my wildest dreams for who and what I deeply love. It doesn't stand in the way, it is the way. Thank you for being here, every single one of you. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for booking me out months in advance! Thank you for every single tip you've generously given. Thank you for ALWAYS rallying around each new project I launch, like SEEN, CELEBRATE and coming soon - KNOWN. Your support directly impacts my family - and my husband, my now toddler (and our little black Labrador Retriever) could not be more grateful!

I'm so excited for what's in store for us in 2025, and beyond all else, I'm thrilled to have you continue to become a part of it. You have become so important to me, and you are who and what I have chosen to build my entire life around!

See you at our next photoshoot!
